The packet crinkled in her tightly clenched hand. ‘KIN-WA! What a joke!’ She threw the quinoa back on the shelf and rubbed at the bulging vein that snaked across her temple. Had the world gone mad?
‘You right there, Miss?’ asked a man in a frayed green cap, who seemed to be struggling with an over flowing trolley of rice bubbles, ready-made meals and milk.
She narrowed her eyes, clutching her empty shopping basket like a shield. ‘Shoo!’ she snapped, watching as he cocked his head before slowly moving away. What an odd little fellow. She imagined him in the freezer. His body squished amongst the frozen vegetables.
‘Excuse me,” she bellowed, her sensible heels clacking as she ran after him. “Can you take me to the baby peas?’
